Interlinear for the Rest of Us: The Reverse Interlinear for New Testament Word Studies (NIV)

Disclaimer: I wrote this text. I always though traditional interlinears were a bit odd. Why should the order of the Greek text be what is primary. People who need interlinears don’t know enough Greek to grasp the significance of the Greek word order, and it produces a horrible, unreadable English translation.
So I created the first “reverse interlinear.“ The English word order is maintained (using the NIV), and below the English is the Greek behind it. I also added two more lines per staff: GK numbers (like the Strong’s numbers) so you can do Greek word studies with knowing Greek, and the word’s parsing. In the second edition I put the text in Greek word order along the bottom and included a Greek-English dictionary in the past. We also moved to a 8.5 x 11 inch format.
This text, along with my Mounce’s Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words and Greek for the Rest of us is all you need to learn to delve into the Greek New Testament if you are not able to actually learn the language.

This book makes the Greek New Testament and word studies based on it easily accessible to everyone, all in one volume.Designed for busy pastors, Sunday school teachers, and anyone who wants a practical tool for studying the Scriptures, this interlinear makes reading easy by flip-flopping the usual order of appearance. It uses the English text as the main text rather than the Greek, so there is absolutely no confusion about the meaning of what you're reading. With this resource you will discover the Greek words behind the English translation, and have the ability to conduct your own word studies using Greek word study books without knowing Greek. Interlinear for the Rest of Us offers these features: Interlinear passages appear in a "staff" with four interrelated lines. From top to bottom, the lines are: English text in New International Version, corresponding Greek words Parsing information, Goodrick-Kohlenberger numbers, Greek text in normal Greek order at the bottom of the page, underneath the interlinear section. Also included is Mounce's Greek-English Dictionary at the back of this volume, which is keyed to both Goodrick-Kohlenberger and Strong's numbering. | ||
