Simply put, these are the kings of the hill. In almost every case, the commentary on any book of the New Testament that is in this series is the best in its class (or just about). For decades these have been the best of the best. When I have serious work to do, it is usually to one of these that I turn.

The books are written by scholars, and include information for the scholar and non-scholar alike. They are in the process of being updated under the watchful eye of Dr. Gordon Fee, and my guess is that in every case the update will be an improvement to an already great commentary. Like any series of this depth, the volumes can be purchased individually.

They are printed on great paper and are well bound. Unlike many volumes, these have footnotes, which is a wonderful way to get the minutia out of the text to where it belongs; why other series refuse to use footnotes is beyond me (including the series I wrote the volume on the Pastorals). Greek words are kept to the footnotes, and when referenced in the text they are transliterated in English font. But beware, these are top of the line commentaries and the authors are going to be dealing with all sorts of academic issues.

I guess I should include the disclaimer that my father wrote the volume on Revelation, which for thirty years has been the best all-around commentary on the Apocalypse; of course, I am not biased at all!

They can be purchased individually.
